Odisha's Chief Minister Majhi Declares Budget as Essential for Long-term Progress

During the launch of a statewide budget awareness initiative dubbed "Ama Janiba, Ama Budget" on Tuesday, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that in alignment with the national vision, the state government has established ambitious objectives to be met by 2047.
These objectives encompass increasing per capita income from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 32 lakh, improving the overall quality of life, reducing multidimensional poverty to just five percent, raising women's workforce participation to 70 percent, extending life expectancy beyond 80 years, and eliminating anaemia and malnutrition.
The Chief Minister also indicated that the budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 will serve as a robust foundation for realizing the vision of a "Prosperous Odisha".
This year's budget presents 31 new initiatives, which include various programs and schemes.
A total budget allocation of Rs 3.10 lakh crore has been proposed, with a significant emphasis on capital expenditure.
The current budget reflects a seven percent increase compared to the previous year’s estimates.
The government aims to transform Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047.
He affirmed that while this goal may appear ambitious, the people of Odisha possess the ability to realize it with the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
The Chief Minister further noted that the budget for the financial year 2026-27 includes specific measures aimed at rural development, job creation, and tackling migration challenges.
This budget awareness campaign will take place across the state from April 1 to 14, ensuring greater public involvement and understanding.
Chief Minister Majhi concluded by stating that the budget epitomizes Odisha's pride and prosperity and will, through collective efforts, elevate the state into a significant economic hub within the nation.
