While speaking to the press following discussions with key stakeholders during the pre-Budget assembly at Lokaseva Bhawan, CM Majhi stated: "We are dedicated to crafting a budget that caters to the needs of all segments and sectors of society. Significant focus will be on bolstering the rural economy, aiding farmers, laborers, and women.
"Our goal is to advance the rural economy through the ‘Viksit Gaon and Viksit Odisha’ initiative and ensure that income opportunities are accessible in rural areas, preventing the need for migration to urban regions."
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to formulating an inclusive and forward-thinking budget. He highlighted the significance of fiscal prudence and revenue generation.
CM Majhi pointed out that priority will be given to sectors such as industry and tourism. He also mentioned that efforts are being made to establish cold storage facilities to enhance farmers' incomes.
"We are focusing on sectors like steel, IT (including the semiconductor sector), mining, renewable energy, petrochemicals, agro industries, and port-based industries to stimulate economic growth. To ensure the budget aligns with the aspirations of the populace, we are collecting feedback from citizens via emails and WhatsApp. This process will continue until January 31," he added.
Stressing the state's accomplishments in job creation, CM Majhi remarked: "In line with our commitment to provide 1.50 lakh jobs by filling vacant government positions, we have already created 20,000 government sector jobs and will soon provide another 20,000 jobs. We aim to fill 65,000 vacant posts across various government sectors during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 fiscal years, with 40,000 jobs set to be filled this year."
He highlighted that the government has approved investments totaling Rs 2.5 lakh crore in the industrial sector, which will generate 1 lakh 10 thousand jobs.
