Quetta, Oct 16 (NationPress) In a tragic event, at least six Baloch civilians, including children, were killed due to an aerial bombardment conducted by the Pakistani Army in the Zehri area of Balochistan, as reported by a prominent human rights organization on Thursday.
This devastating incident highlights the escalating human rights crisis in Zehri, which has seen weeks of intense military operations resulting in multiple casualties.
Sharing a deeply emotional video on their social media, the Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department voiced their outrage as a mourning elder recounted the loss of his entire family, tragically including four children and two adults, due to the airstrike.
Describing the event, the rights organization stated, "This horrific act exemplifies the systematic violence faced by the Baloch people. The intentional targeting of civilians is a serious breach of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law."
According to Paank, between October 5 and 10, numerous residents of Zehri were subjected to forced disappearances by the Pakistani Army during a large-scale military operation.
The identified victims include Mohamed Bakhsh Meraji, Qadir Bakhsh Meraji, Ali Hasan Pandrani, and Rahmatullah Meraji.
On October 5, another civilian, Rauf Jatak, was reportedly abducted by Pakistani security forces from Zehri.
Paank noted that the operation was marked by an internet shutdown and road blockades, with unverified reports suggesting that many individuals were taken to undisclosed locations.
Another human rights organization, Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), cited local sources indicating a rise in drone strikes, violence, and enforced disappearances as military operations persist in Zehri, with all access routes to the area being completely sealed off.
"A comprehensive curfew has been imposed, limiting the movement of residents. A video shared on social media reveals that the Zehri Bazaar is entirely deserted, while military personnel are seen patrolling with tanks and heavy weaponry," BVJ reported.
Residents claim severe human rights violations are occurring during these military operations, alleging that Pakistani forces have ignored all laws of war and human rights standards in the region.
The rights group has called upon international human rights organizations to urgently address the deteriorating situation in Zehri and take decisive action to safeguard the lives of countless individuals trapped under Pakistani military siege.
