Jaipur, May 3 (NationPress) The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that all Pakistani nationals possessing Long-Term Visas (LTVs) who have not yet obtained Indian citizenship must submit a new application via the Electronic Foreigners Regional Registration Office (e-FRRO) portal along with verified documentation, officials reported.
According to Vishnukant, Inspector General of Police (Security) in Rajasthan, this initiative follows a directive issued on April 28, 2025, by Pratap Singh Rawat, Under Secretary of the Ministry’s Foreign-I Department.
While prior regulations allowed LTV holders to retain their status without reapplying, the updated policy now requires a fresh application process.
Applicants need to provide a valid LTV certificate, a recent passport-sized photograph with a white background, proof of current address, details of their profession, occupation, and religion, and if applicable, a copy of their Indian citizenship application.
The e-FRRO portal (https://indianfrro.gov.in) will accept applications from May 10 to July 10, 2025. Those who do not reapply within this timeframe will face visa cancellation.
“The Union Home Ministry of India has made a decision regarding the long-term visa policy for Pakistani citizens. All Pakistani nationals with long-term visas who have not acquired Indian citizenship must now reapply on the e-FRRO portal with verified papers,” stated Inspector General of Police (Security) Rajasthan.
Vishnukant further explained, “Orders were issued on April 28, 2025, by Pratap Singh Rawat, Under Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Foreign-I Department. Previously, long-term visa holders were exempted from reapplying, but this new decision has been enacted by the Indian government.”
“The government has determined that all Pakistani citizens holding long-term visas and not having Indian citizenship must complete a new application via the e-FRRO portal (https://indianfrro.gov.in) with verified documents,” he added.
As per the order, the application form for reapplying for a long-term visa will be accessible on the portal from May 10, 2025, and will be open until July 10, 2025.
Failure to reapply during this period will result in the cancellation of the long-term visa for any Pakistani citizen, emphasized Vishnukant.
