New Delhi, May 8 (NationPress) Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, the two distinguished women officers from the Indian Armed Forces, who previously drew international attention with their briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’, addressed the media once again on Thursday. They detailed Pakistan’s attempts to strike several military positions during the night of May 7/8 and how these efforts were successfully countered by the Indian defense mechanisms.
“On the night of 07-08 May, Pakistan made an attempt to target various military sites in Northern and Western India, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj using drones and missiles. However, they were neutralized by our Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defense systems,” Colonel Qureshi stated during the briefing.
She further highlighted the discovery of Pakistani projectiles, stating, “The remnants from these attacks are being recovered from various locations, substantiating the reality of the Pakistani assaults.”
Colonel Qureshi also asserted that Pakistan was held accountable for their audacious attempt to attack Indian military targets.
“This morning, our Air Defense System in Lahore was successfully neutralized by the Indian armed forces,” she informed, noting that the Indian response matched Pakistan's aggression in both domain and intensity.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh shed light on Pakistan's ongoing ceasefire violations along the border and reported an increase in firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC).
She remarked that the Army is responding to Pakistan’s provocations with equal force, noting that sixteen lives have been lost on the Indian side as a result of these encounters.
“Pakistan has escalated its artillery fire and employed mortars in regions including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. India had no choice but to retaliate to halt the mortar and artillery bombardment from Pakistan,” she explained.
