Hyderabad, Nov 21 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu announced on Friday that the government is implementing various initiatives to engage people, particularly our youth, with their cultural heritage.
She officially launched the second edition of the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad.
This nine-day festival is being hosted by Rashtrapati Nilayam in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Textiles, and the Ministry of Tourism.
The festival showcases the vibrant and diverse cultural heritage of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu.
During her speech at the opening ceremony, the President noted that the inaugural edition of the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav had introduced attendees to the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India. This time, participants can explore and appreciate the cultural wealth of Western India.
She expressed optimism that attendees would experience the folk culture of India's western regions through the festival's offerings, including handicrafts, dances, music, literature, and cuisine from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The President emphasized that events like the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav encourage people from various regions to connect and expand their understanding of each other, which in turn fosters respect for cultural heritage and motivates preservation efforts.
She expressed her belief that a significant number of attendees will participate in the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav and enjoy the experience.
Among those present at the inauguration were Governor of Telangana Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Governor of Rajasthan Haribhau Bagde, Governor of Goa Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development D Anasuya Seethakka, and Minister of Tribal Development Naresh Maganbhai Patel.
Previously, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy warmly welcomed the President upon her arrival at Begumpet Airport.
The President was honored and escorted to Raj Bhavan, where she received a cordial reception from the Governor.
After attending the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav, she returned to Raj Bhavan.
She plans to stay overnight at Raj Bhavan before heading to Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday.
