Key Takeaways
Mathura, March 21 (NationPress) On Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu made history by performing the 21-kilometer Parikrama of Goverdhan Parvat in a golf cart, becoming the first President to grace this sacred town.
The Goverdhan Parvat holds immense religious importance as it is closely linked to Lord Krishna. The complete circuit of the mountain spans 21 kilometers, featuring significant sites such as Danghati Temple, Radha Kund, Shyam Kund, Kusum Sarovar, and Jatipura.
During her visit, President Murmu will also offer her prayers at the Danghati Temple located in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.
On March 20, she had an insightful meeting with revered saint Premanand Maharaj at his Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan, where she engaged in a spiritual dialogue and sought his blessings.
This meeting was a prominent highlight of the President’s three-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, during which she has engaged in various religious ceremonies and public activities.
Arriving at the ashram early in the day with tight security, President Murmu received a warm welcome from disciples and local leaders before her interaction with Premanand Maharaj, a respected teacher of the Radha Vallabh tradition prevalent in the Braj region. Reports suggest their discussion centered on spiritual values and the role of faith in fostering harmony and societal welfare.
The ashram visit is part of the President’s extensive itinerary that includes stops in Ayodhya, Mathura, and Vrindavan, where she has been praying at key temples and sacred sites since her arrival on March 19.
On Thursday evening, she reached Mathura and visited the ISKCON Temple, participating in the evening aarti. She also paid homage at the samadhi of Swami Prabhupada and offered prayers at the Krishna Balaram and Shyam Sunder shrines.
Earlier in her visit, President Murmu installed the ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. This ceremony, conducted with Vedic chants by scholars from southern India, Kashi, and Ayodhya, marks a significant step towards the temple's completion.
Moreover, the President inaugurated the new Oncology Block of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, aimed at enhancing cancer care services in the area.
