Sydney, April 3 (NationPress) A rapidly spreading bushfire in the suburbs of Perth, the capital of Western Australia (WA), has led to an urgent evacuation warning. Residents in parts of the suburb of Ferndale, located 10 km southeast of Perth's city center, were advised to evacuate immediately on Thursday morning due to the imminent threat of the fire, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

"You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes," stated a warning from the WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) just before 7 a.m. local time.

"If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place. Do not wait and see; leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger."

The authorities recommended that residents evacuate westward and take emergency kits with them.

The warning also instructed those unable to leave to seek immediate shelter in a room with running water and a clear exit.

"You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you before the flames reach you," the warning indicated.

The fire was reported to be advancing slowly in a northwest direction along the nearby Canning River, but it was expected that burning embers could be blown around the homes in the vicinity.

The DFES advised anyone trapped in a vehicle to park away from bushes, cover themselves with a woolen blanket, and lie on the floor of the car.

The fire was first detected shortly after 4 a.m. local time in a conservation park near the river.
