Raipur, Nov 30 (NationPress) The 60th All India Conference of Directors General of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) concluded on Sunday, marking a crucial turning point for India's internal security framework.

During the valedictory session, PM Modi addressed the need for a transformation in policing in our digital era, advocating a shift from traditional methods to technology-driven strategies.

"The police must develop a fresh approach to gain the trust of the public, especially the youth," he asserted, receiving applause from the gathered officers.

He envisioned a future police force that harnesses Artificial Intelligence (AI), the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), advanced forensics, and data-centric platforms to anticipate threats and improve responsiveness.

The Prime Minister specifically called for enhanced measures to combat crimes against women and children, promoting a nationwide expansion of emergency response systems like the Dial 112 helpline.

"We need to further control crimes against women through a national police network like Dial 112," PM Modi emphasized, advocating for a coordinated, multi-agency strategy to safeguard vulnerable populations while also addressing rising cyber-crimes and drug trafficking.

He noted that under his administration, Chhattisgarh has made significant strides in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) containment, with affected districts decreasing from 18 to 11, and severely impacted areas reduced from six to three: Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur. Modi's remarks resonated with the conference's overarching theme of "Surakshit Bharat" (Secure India), as he laid out a roadmap toward his Vision 2047—a secure, self-reliant India by the centenary of independence.

He acknowledged the police force's resilience but urged proactive measures against emerging threats, including terrorism and urban policing challenges.

This conference, held for the first time at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Naya Raipur Atal Nagar campus, attracted over 300 senior police officials from various states, union territories, and central police organizations.

During the closing session, PM Modi encouraged the police to reinvent themselves through modern technology, emphasizing a trust-building strategy to enhance public confidence, particularly among the youth, as India progresses toward its 'Viksit Bharat' vision by 2047.

Inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the high-profile gathering also included National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, and heads of key central agencies. PM Modi arrived in Raipur on November 28 evening, amid heightened security.

This marked the Prime Minister's second visit to the state in a month, following the Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day celebrations on November 1.

Security was intensified across Naya Raipur and its surroundings, highlighting the event's significance in a state long at the forefront of combating Left-Wing Extremism (LWE).

The conference featured in-depth discussions across thematic sessions, promoting idea-sharing and best-practice exchanges among DGPs and IGPs.

Topics included strategies to align policing with national development goals, sustainable security infrastructure, improved intelligence-sharing protocols to hasten the capture of fugitives, advancements in scientific investigations to enhance conviction rates, strengthening urban policing frameworks, and integrating AI and modern technology into operations against radicalization, cross-border threats, and domestic extremism.

States showcased innovative crime-control strategies, positioning Chhattisgarh as a model for LWE eradication through community outreach and tech-enabled operations.

The event also highlighted the tradition of rotating conference venues—previous hosts included Guwahati, the Rann of Kutch, Hyderabad, and Bhubaneswar—reflecting the PM Modi-led government's initiative for decentralized security dialogues since 2014.

As the 60th edition concluded, the Raipur conference stood as a call to action for transformation.

PM Modi's vision casts the police not merely as enforcers but as guardians of trust in an increasingly digital society.

With rising cyber threats, drug trafficking, and gender-based violence, the directives could initiate nationwide reforms, potentially integrating AI into over 20,000 police stations by 2030.
