New Delhi, Feb 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Institute of Actuaries of India on the significant occasion of the 25th Global Conference of Actuaries. He characterized this achievement as indicative of the organization's enduring dedication to enhancing the actuarial profession within the nation.
In a letter released on February 21, the Prime Minister expressed, “I am delighted to know of the 25th Global Conference of Actuaries. My warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Institute of Actuaries of India on this momentous occasion.”
Emphasizing the vital role of the actuarial profession in a swiftly evolving country, he acknowledged that the Institute has tirelessly worked to “enhance standards, promote research, and engage with emerging risk domains.”
He noted that the theme of this year's conference, ‘Actuarial Pathways to Viksit Bharat: Managing Risk for Inclusive Social and Economic Growth’, is especially pertinent at a time when India is experiencing robust economic development and the expansion of its social security framework.
“For decades, the fields of actuarial science and the profession in India have progressed in tandem with the nation's economic growth,” the Prime Minister remarked, highlighting the increasing significance of risk management and data-based policy formulation.
Referencing key welfare programs, he highlighted initiatives such as the Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat which have greatly expanded access to insurance, health coverage, and pension plans. “The design and efficacy of these initiatives underscore the essential role of the actuarial profession,” he added.
As India moves toward the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of fortifying safety nets for citizens and aligning efforts for inclusive growth. He expressed optimism that the global conference, which unites students, associates, fellows, affiliates, and sector experts, would promote collaborative learning and idea sharing.
“Wishing you all the best for a successful conference,” he concluded.
