Voting in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry will occur on April 9, while Tamil Nadu will cast votes on April 23. Earlier, on March 1, PM Modi inaugurated several development initiatives for the country and laid the foundation for projects exceeding Rs 2,700 crore in Puducherry. During the event, he emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, and health tourism to boost the growth of the Union Territory.
He also highlighted Puducherry's increasing per capita income and its attainment of the highest social index score nationwide, asserting that the double-engine government would further expedite development. Reinforcing the government's pledge to healthcare, the Prime Minister stated that medical services must be accessible, available, and affordable for every citizen.
Pointing to the presence of nine medical colleges and the modernization of the Regional Cancer Centre at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, along with new critical care blocks planned in Puducherry and Karaikal, he expressed optimism that the region could evolve into a significant hub for medical tourism.
While inaugurating projects valued at Rs 1,142.23 crore, PM Modi underscored the government's drive for world-class infrastructure. He noted that Rs 12 lakh crore has been earmarked in the Union Budget for infrastructure development, asserting that enhancements in roads, drinking water supply, coastal infrastructure, educational institutions, and hospitals will greatly improve the quality of life in Puducherry.
