New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday commemorated the launch of the nation's 58th and Madhya Pradesh's ninth Tiger Reserve, reinforcing the Centre's dedication to wildlife protection and environmental conservation.
Expressing his thoughts on X, PM Modi stated, "Fantastic news for wildlife enthusiasts! India is endowed with an incredible wildlife diversity and a culture that honors it. We will consistently lead the way in animal protection and fostering a sustainable planet."
He also shared a message from Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, who praised the establishment of this new Tiger Reserve.
"58th roar and counting! With a historic focus on restoring ecological diversity on Earth, PM Shri Narendra Modi ji is guiding India towards remarkable progress in environmental protection and wildlife conservation," Yadav remarked.
"I am excited to announce that the country has officially added its 58th Tiger Reserve, with the latest addition being Madhya Pradesh's Madhav Tiger Reserve. This marks the ninth Tiger Reserve for MP," he continued.
Yadav commended forest officials for their unwavering commitment, saying, "I congratulate all wildlife enthusiasts and conservation advocates. This achievement reflects the tireless work of our forest officials who are dedicated to this cause."
The newly designated Madhav Tiger Reserve is situated in the Shivpuri district within the Gwalior-Chambal region. It spans 1,751 square kilometres, with a core area of 375 square kilometres and a buffer zone of 1,276 square kilometres.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the state's ongoing commitment to wildlife conservation during his remarks on Wednesday.
"Madhya Pradesh not only holds the title of 'Tiger State' for having the highest tiger population but is also making significant advances in the wildlife and tourism sectors. With the inclusion of Madhav National Park, we now boast nine Tiger Reserves in the state," CM Yadav stated.
He extended his congratulations to the people of Madhya Pradesh, deeming this a proud achievement for the state.
The recent addition of Madhav Tiger Reserve follows the recent classification of Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary, located between Bhopal and Raisen districts, as the state's eighth Tiger Reserve.
Madhya Pradesh's existing Tiger Reserves include Kanha, Satpura, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Sanjay Dubri, Panna, Veerangana Durgavati, Ratapani, and Madhav National Park.
