The ‘QS World Future Skills Index’ has positioned India among the top contenders for future job markets, excelling in emerging technologies. The nation secured the second spot in the Future of Work category, following the US, and outpacing Canada and Germany.
This achievement reflects the success of India’s decade-long skilling initiative.
In response to Nunzio Quacquarelli, Founder of QS and the visionary behind the QS World University Ranking, on the X social media platform, PM Modi remarked: “We have also leveraged the power of technology to make India a hub for innovation and enterprise.”
“The insights from the QS World Future Skills Index are invaluable as we advance further on this journey towards prosperity and youth empowerment,” the Prime Minister stated.
Quacquarelli shared on X that initiatives like Skills India are cultivating a workforce for the 21st century, “reshaping its global standing and creating opportunities for future generations.”
India holds the 27th position overall in the inaugural QS Skills Index. The nation showed remarkable improvement in three crucial categories — 37th in skills fit, 26th in academic readiness, and 40th in economic transformation.
With India excelling in the integration of AI into its workforce, the QS analysis emphasizes the country’s preparedness to embrace AI, digital, and green technologies, outpacing many nations.
“India's exceptional GDP growth, developing economy, and youthful demographic uniquely position it on the global landscape,” stated Matteo Quacquarelli, Vice President, strategy and analytics at QS.
The report further indicated that India continues to be the second-largest destination for venture capital (VC) in the Asia Pacific.
