Born in 1965 in Ujjain, Mohan Yadav completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) from Ujjain University and pursued further studies at the same institution. He holds degrees in Law (LLB), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Yadav's early engagement in politics began with his association with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
