New Delhi, Sep 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s launch of the 51.38-km Bairabi–Sairang railway project in Mizoram has sparked enthusiastic responses from both local residents and students, who regard this initiative as a pivotal advancement for connectivity, trade, and opportunities in the area.
During the event, a local resident shared, “The arrival of the railway is thrilling, especially knowing that we are the fourth northeastern state to integrate into the Indian Railways network. This will enhance our connectivity and open up fresh avenues for trade, education, and tourism.
A student expressed hope, stating, “I am optimistic that this railway line will boost our economy and benefit the youth of Mizoram. It will be advantageous for us.”
Another student mirrored this sentiment, observing, “This will propel our society toward progress and inspire young people to strive harder.”
Mizoram Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar also expressed gratitude, noting, “I extend my thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the railway station in Mizoram. I also appreciate the Railway Minister and everyone else involved in this achievement.”
This railway project officially links Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, to the expansive Indian Railways network, marking it as the fourth northeastern capital to achieve this status, following Guwahati, Agartala, and Itanagar.
PM Modi additionally flagged off three new train services and launched development initiatives amounting to over Rs 9,000 crore.
After completing his tour in Mizoram, the Prime Minister will proceed to Manipur, where he is expected to address gatherings in Churachandpur and Imphal, along with engaging local MLAs, civil society organizations, and community leaders.
In Manipur, PM Modi will unveil a total of 31 projects valued at Rs 8,500 crore and address public gatherings at both locations.
