The Minister informed that 30 lakh individuals have now registered for the program, qualifying them for various welfare benefits, and the initiative is well ahead of its original targets.
“The aim was to reach 30 lakh registrations in four years, yet we accomplished this milestone in just two years,” she stated, noting that approximately 5,000 crore were disbursed in loans to beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme during this timeframe.
These revelations were made in response to a question posed by Rajya Sabha MP and BJP National Vice-President Laxmikant Bajpayee, who sought details specifically related to Uttar Pradesh.
“How many individuals registered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme? How many received training? How many were granted loans and toolkits? What is the status in Uttar Pradesh?” the BJP MP inquired.
In her reply, MoS Karandlaje stated, “In just two years, thirty lakh individuals have registered, well ahead of the four-year target. Over 20 lakh individuals have received training, and toolkits have been distributed to approximately 12 lakh people.
She also mentioned that loans have been granted to approximately 5.18 lakh beneficiaries, with the total disbursed amount reaching around Rs 4,470 crore.
“In terms of Uttar Pradesh, she disclosed that a total of 178,081 residents from the state have registered, while toolkits have been provided to 66,901 individuals,” the MoS detailed, shedding light on the scheme's outreach in Uttar Pradesh.
Additionally, she emphasized that the PM Vishwakarma scheme is a vital step towards economically empowering traditional artisans, granting them formal recognition and fostering self-reliance.
The PM Vishwakarma Yojana is an initiative introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) aimed at offering comprehensive support to artisans and craftsmen who rely on their skills and tools.
Participants receive free credit, skill training, modern tools, and market linkage assistance.
