New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Thousands of unemployed individuals in Chhindwara and Pandhurna, Madhya Pradesh, are receiving crucial assistance to develop and launch their own businesses through the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This initiative, designed to empower artisans, provides training and financial support to aid them in starting their businesses and achieving financial independence.
To date, 3,055 loan applications have been submitted to various banks by the District Trade and Industry Centre in Chhindwara under this scheme, with 665 beneficiaries already approved for loans amounting to Rs 5.86 crore, of which Rs 4.08 crore has been disbursed to 462 individuals.
The beneficiaries hail from a variety of traditional professions including carpentry, blacksmithing, jewellery making, pottery, tailoring, hair styling, cobbling, sculpture, toy making, and more.
Chhindwara MP, Vivek Sahu, voiced his support for the initiative, stating, “In addition to distributing loans, we are offering technical and modern skills training to beneficiaries. This will empower them to start their businesses and thrive in their trades.”
The scheme has significantly impacted artisans like Ajay Sarathe, a hair salon owner in Guraya Naka, who participated in the initial training batch.
Ajay remarked, “Prior to the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, small artisans like myself lacked substantial support. Now, my skills have improved, and I've obtained a low-interest loan that has allowed me to purchase tools and advance my business.”
Satish Malviya, another recipient running a welding shop specializing in iron gates, expressed gratitude for the scheme, saying, "I am extremely thankful to PM Modi and all the assistance I've received. It has transformed my life."
The PM Vishwakarma Yojana is designed to support artisans in two stages: a 5-day basic training followed by 15 days of advanced training.
During the training period, artisans earn a daily wage of Rs 500, and upon successful completion, they receive financial aid of up to Rs 15,000 for tools.
Moreover, certified artisans can access loans up to Rs 3 lakh, encouraging them to expand their businesses and attain financial freedom.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader vision to uplift artisans, support traditional craftsmanship, and stimulate economic growth in India.
