Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), April 10 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, initiated to uplift artisans and craftsmen across 18 traditional trades, is significantly impacting the lives of individuals in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district by generating employment opportunities and fostering empowerment through skill enhancement.
This program, conceptualized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a transformative initiative for numerous individuals, providing skill training, financial assistance, and acknowledgment to both genders. Residents of Burhanpur have expressed to IANS how their lives have positively shifted post-enrollment.
In particular, women have emerged as exemplary representatives of the scheme's triumph. After completing six days of sewing training, many are now accepting tailoring assignments, attaining financial independence, and enhancing their confidence. Some women have even established small beauty parlors after receiving beauty training under this initiative, allowing them to secure a consistent income.
Men have also been actively engaged. Some have acquired carpentry skills, while others have learned the art of crafting fishing nets, which is especially advantageous for the local fishing community. The handmade nets produced by trained youth are now widely utilized by fishermen in the region.
All beneficiaries have shared their stories, stating that the PM Vishwakarma Yojana has endowed them with skills, employment, and self-sufficiency. Previously, they had no source of income, but now they lead lives of dignity.
Ashish Sonkar, a carpenter and scheme beneficiary, remarked: "I was unemployed. However, this scheme enabled me to receive training and start working for my family. I am incredibly grateful to PM Modi."
Rahul Ashok Chaudhary, another beneficiary, stated: "I acquired training as a barber and even secured a loan. I gained new skills. PM Modi's vision of job creation is materializing. I appreciate this opportunity."
Milan Pawar, a beauty parlour operator, expressed: "The training provided through this scheme assisted me in expanding my business. With the financial backing, I was able to launch my own venture and attain empowerment."
Neeta Hemant, a tailor, shared: "I was previously unemployed. However, through this scheme, I learned tailoring. Now, I can support my children's education. We used to be idle, but today I contribute to my family's income.”
Vinod Kulthe, Training Lead Manager, explained: "We provide training to participants over six days. They receive Rs 3,000 as a stipend for the six days and Rs 1,000 for travel expenses. After completing training and passing the exam, they are eligible for a Rs 1 lakh loan to initiate their own businesses."
