Srinagar, March 25 (NationPress) The J&K Police announced on Tuesday that they executed searches at various sites in the Pulwama district targeting the banned organisation JK Democratic Freedom Party, led by prominent separatist figure Shabir Shah.
The police stated that these operations are part of a continuing investigation linked to the proscribed JK Democratic Freedom Party.
“These searches were conducted in relation to Case FIR No. 04/2024 registered at Police Station Litter under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA Act. During the operations, police teams targeted the residences of multiple suspects, including Owais Ahmed Malik, son of Mohammed Maqbool Malik, a resident of Hakripora, and Bashir Ahmed Azim, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Azim, a resident of Mohalla Chatpora Pulwama, who are linked to the banned outfit,” the police stated.
They added that this ongoing investigation seeks to dismantle the anti-national and separatist ecosystem by identifying and enforcing strict legal actions against those involved in such operations.
“Pulwama Police assures that legal processes will persist and any individuals found to be supporting or engaging in unlawful activities will face stringent repercussions as per the law,” the police stated.
Shabir Ahmad Shah, the president of the banned JK Democratic Freedom Party, is currently held in Tihar Jail after being apprehended by the NIA in connection with terror-related offenses, including terror funding, inciting violence among youth, and conspiring with the nation's adversaries.
Although Shabir Shah received statutory bail from the Patiala House Court in 2017 in a PMLA case, he was subsequently re-arrested and is now detained at Tihar Jail.
At present, leading a separatist group known as Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah is also affiliated with Syed Ali Geelani’s Hurriyat conference and has reportedly amassed considerable wealth over a span of 29 years of militancy in Kashmir through various means, including Hawala channels, according to official sources.
