Srinagar, Oct 13 (NationPress) The Jammu and Kashmir Police executed search operations targeting associates of the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami-J&K and Hurriyat Conference in Srinagar on Monday.

"In an ongoing effort to combat banned organizations, Srinagar police today initiated coordinated search operations at various locations connected to individuals reportedly linked with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Hurriyat Conference," stated the J&K Police.

Searches were conducted at the residences of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat alias Goga Shahib alias Mushtaqul Islam, son of Gh. Qadir Bhat, residing in Kashi Mohalla, Batamaloo; Ashraf Sehrai, son of Mohd. Shumasdin, from Baghat; Mehrajuddin Kalwal alias Raj Kalwal, son of Mohammad Amin Kalwal, currently living in Hamza Colony, Kenihama (currently in NIA custody); and Zameer Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, from Gulshan Nagar, Nowgam. The statement emphasized that all searches were executed in strict accordance with legal processes.

During these operations, various items, such as literature and photographs purportedly connected to the banned separatist groups, were confiscated, according to the statement.

“These actions are part of a larger campaign to dismantle the terror and separatist ecosystem in the Valley by targeting its support structures and networks. The Srinagar Police reiterated its dedication to upholding peace and public order, promising continued action against those engaged in unlawful or anti-national activities," it added.

The police and security forces in J&K have been actively conducting anti-terrorism operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to effectively dismantle the terror ecosystem.

Additionally, hawala money operators, drug traffickers, and peddlers are under scrutiny by security forces, as it is believed that funds from these illegal activities are ultimately used to support terrorism in J&K.

While police and security forces are engaged in anti-terror operations in the region, the army and Border Security Force (BSF) patrol the line of control (LoC) and international border (IB) in J&K.
