New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh dismissed Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa’s assertion that 30 AAP MLAs were in contact with the Opposition party, labeling Bajwa as an inconsequential figure in state politics.
"Pratap Singh Bajwa is not a credible person. Even his own MLAs are not aligned with him, and neither is his family. We should not waste our time on him," Singh stated.
He further highlighted that the recent gathering of AAP leaders was called by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal to express gratitude to Punjab ministers and supporters who campaigned for the party during the Delhi elections, notwithstanding the challenges faced.
"Kejriwal ji organized this meeting to appreciate the ministers and supporters from Punjab who stood by him during the Delhi elections. In spite of the misconduct from the Delhi Police and the Election Commission, they worked diligently. He also urged us to maintain the same momentum in Punjab, and we shall do so," Singh elaborated.
In a critique of the BJP’s success in Delhi, the Punjab Minister alleged that the ruling party at the Centre was backed by both the Delhi Police and the Election Commission. "The BJP had assistance; they were not alone; they had the support of the Delhi Police and the EC," he commented.
Bajwa, who serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, had previously claimed that more than 30 AAP MLAs were in contact with the Congress for nearly a year and were poised to change allegiance.
Nonetheless, AAP leaders have strongly denied this claim, maintaining that the party remains cohesive.
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and 91 state MLAs, urging the party to concentrate on the 2027 Assembly elections.
He dismissed any rumors regarding internal conflict in Punjab, reaffirming the party’s dedication to governance and development in the state.
