Chandigarh, April 11 (NationPress) The Punjab Police have dismantled a major cross-border drug and illegal weapon smuggling operation, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals, including a juvenile. Authorities seized 6.5 kg of heroin, a .30 caliber pistol with six cartridges, and Rs 1 lakh in drug money, as stated by State Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday.
The arrested suspects are identified as Nishan Singh from Mulianwal in Batala, Ravipal Singh from Raipur, and one juvenile.
In addition to the drugs and cash, police have also confiscated their vehicle.
This operation follows the investigation of two other suspects, Vansh and Sukhchain, who were previously arrested in connection with an extortion-related shooting incident in Batala on March 30.
From these individuals, two .30 bore pistols were recovered.
DGP Yadav emphasized that the substantial recovery of drugs and firearms underscores the deep connections between extortion, drug trafficking, and illegal arms networks.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Border Range), Sandeep Goel, revealed that the accused were acting under the orders of a handler based abroad.
In sharing operational insights, Senior Superintendent of Police (Batala), Mehtab Singh, noted that during questioning, Vansh and Sukhchain admitted to receiving weapons from a juvenile suspect and Ravipal.
Promptly acting on this information, police teams arrested Ravipal Singh and his juvenile accomplice, who confessed to orchestrating the smuggling of both weapons and drugs.
“Ravipal disclosed that he had delivered a shipment to Nishan Singh as instructed by their overseas handler,” the SSP mentioned, adding that following this lead, police intercepted Nishan’s vehicle near Kamla Devi Avenue in Amritsar, leading to the recovery of 6.5 kg of heroin, a .30 caliber pistol, six cartridges, and Rs 1 lakh in cash.
