Chandigarh, June 5 (NationPress) In a significant operation targeting cross-border drug trafficking, the Punjab Police have successfully dismantled two international narco-trafficking cartels. This operation led to the apprehension of six individuals involved in drug smuggling, including one woman, along with the seizure of 4 kg of heroin, as stated by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Thursday.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Vishal Singh, 23, Didar Singh, 50, Sevenbir Singh, 25, Harjit Singh, 38, Jaj Singh, 19, and Jasbir Kaur, 60.
In addition to the heroin, the police have also seized their SUV, which was employed for transporting drug shipments.
DGP Yadav reported that initial investigations indicate that one of the modules is operated by the arrested Sevenbir Singh, who maintains direct communication with smugglers based in Pakistan. This network allegedly disguises their heroin trafficking under the pretext of livestock trade.
Furthermore, DGP Yadav noted that Jasbir Kaur is associated with the notorious smuggler Ranjeet, also known as Cheeta, and has ongoing connections with smugglers both within India and across the border.
