Chandigarh, July 5 (NationPress) In a significant initiative to enhance safety in Punjab, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit of Punjab Police in Amritsar has successfully dismantled a cross-border narcotics smuggling network connected to Pakistan, apprehending four individuals and seizing 5 kg of heroin from their possession, as reported by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday.
The arrested individuals include Resham Singh and Gurpinder Singh, both residents of Dhanoe Kalan in Amritsar, along with Rooppreet Singh and Shubhkar Manjit Singh from Sehnewali in Amritsar. In addition to recovering the heroin, law enforcement officials have also confiscated their Mahindra Thar vehicle and a motorcycle that were used to transport the narcotics.
DGP Yadav explained that initial inquiries have indicated that the suspects were operating under the guidance of a smuggler based in Pakistan, known as Kaka, who resides in Dyal, Pakistan. Kaka has been allegedly employing drones to drop narcotics shipments across the border. The arrested suspects were responsible for distributing these narcotics to other parties within the state.
