Punjab launches Meri Rasoi Yojana, free food kits for 40 lakh families
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday, 9 May launched the 'Meri Rasoi Yojana' at Bhalwan village in Sangrur district, marking the beginning of free nutritional food kit distribution to nearly 40 lakh poor and economically weaker families across the state. Described as one of the country's largest household nutrition support initiatives, the scheme aims to ease the burden on low-income kitchens amid rising inflation.
What the Scheme Covers
Under the Meri Rasoi Yojana, every beneficiary family will receive a specially prepared kitchen kit once every three months. Each kit contains mustard oil, pulses, sugar, salt, turmeric, and other essential grocery items required for running a household kitchen. The scheme has been designed with a focus on the practical needs of ordinary families, particularly women managing daily household responsibilities.
