Chandigarh, Dec 25 (NationPress) In a remarkable New Year initiative for its residents, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has officially authorized the Health Department to implement the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna starting in January. This scheme will facilitate cashless medical treatments worth Rs 10 lakh for each family across the state.
During a review meeting with the Health Department, CM Mann stated that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Beema Yojna represents a significant move towards delivering universal healthcare services to citizens without any financial burden.
“This initiative marks progress towards universal healthcare and assures that families receive cashless treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh. Punjab will be the first state in India to provide such extensive cashless treatment coverage for every family,” he added.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the scheme is a flagship health assurance program designed to offer financial security and guaranteed access to quality healthcare for all eligible state residents.
“This scheme is a significant advancement towards universal health coverage, enabling each registered family to receive cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh annually,” he elaborated.
CM Mann further explained, “The program encompasses major illnesses, critical care, surgeries, and essential treatments across a broad network of partnered government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh, thereby ensuring equitable healthcare access.”
The primary objective is to guarantee cashless and paperless healthcare at listed hospitals while minimizing out-of-pocket expenses for secondary and tertiary healthcare.
“Additionally, it will enhance equal access to healthcare services in both urban and rural regions and provide timely grievance resolution and beneficiary assistance through digital platforms,” the Chief Minister stated.
He noted that all expenses related to hospitalization, surgeries, medical procedures, ICU and critical care, diagnostics, medications, and consumables as per approved packages, as well as pre-and post-hospitalization costs, will be completely covered under this program.
