Bengaluru, Nov 8 (NationPress) In response to the joint press conference held by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar regarding alleged vote manipulation, the Karnataka BJP on Saturday asserted that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, pressured them to speak to the media as the Congress party's defeat in the Bihar elections appears unavoidable.
R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, remarked: "As the disgraceful defeat in the Bihar elections seems certain, Rahul Gandhi, driven by desperation, compelled Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar to conduct a press conference and unveil yet another chapter of his 'Vote Theft Mega Serial.'"
Ashoka accused Rahul Gandhi of becoming a subject of public mockery for his repeated false statements—calling them 'atom bombs' and 'hydrogen bombs'—and claimed that both CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar reluctantly participated in the symbolic press conference to preserve their positions.
"If Rahul Gandhi genuinely believed in the truth of his accusations, why hasn't he submitted an affidavit as the Election Commission requested? Why hasn’t he taken legal action?" Ashoka questioned.
He further pointed out that for every claim made by Rahul Gandhi, the Election Commission has provided a suitable counter, and the media has demonstrated that his assertions are nothing more than blatant falsehoods and fabricated narratives.
"Yet, he persists in repeating the same lies—one must almost admire the lack of shame with which he does so," Ashoka criticized.
Ashoka also alleged that it is the Congress party itself that is involved in voter fraud.
"The Congress government in Karnataka, by shielding rather than deporting thousands of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, intends to use them for unlawful voting to secure electoral victories," he charged.
"If the Congress is genuinely committed to curbing voter fraud, it must take immediate steps to deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants," Ashoka demanded.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D.K. Shivakumar stated that under the signature campaign initiated by AICC leaders to combat voter fraud nationwide, Karnataka alone has gathered 1.12 crore signatures.
He spoke at a joint press conference at the Congress office, Bharat Jodo Bhavan, on Saturday.
"The petitions containing these signatures will be sent to Delhi on November 10. Accompanied by the district presidents who contributed significantly to this campaign, these petitions will be flown to Delhi. A large public rally is planned at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi during the third week of November. This campaign will continue for areas that could not complete their collections, with an extension of three to four more days," Shivakumar said.
"Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, a substantial nationwide initiative is underway through this signature movement to safeguard democracy, the Constitution, and voting rights," he added.
