Bengaluru, Aug 8 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Friday that a movement aimed at protecting democracy and the Constitution has commenced under the guidance of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, with the citizens of the state poised to back this initiative.

Siddaramaiah made these comments while addressing a protest rally at Freedom Park, denouncing electoral malpractice and vote theft that occurred during the Lok Sabha elections.

The Chief Minister accused the Election Commission of acting as a mere extension of the BJP.

"The protest against vote theft, which has recently initiated in Karnataka, is expected to expand nationwide. Rahul Gandhi has conducted a thorough investigation, gathering and analyzing polling data, and has now made the findings publicly available," Siddaramaiah commented.

He emphasized that the Election Commission needs to function impartially and in accordance with the Constitution.

"Manuvadis are adversaries of the Constitution, attempting to disrupt the constitutional framework. It has become evident that Congress's loss of the Central Lok Sabha seat was due to electoral fraud in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment, not a lack of public support," he stated.

"Congress should have secured 14 seats in Karnataka during the Lok Sabha elections, but we suffered losses due to vote theft. The misuse of EVMs since their introduction has now been substantiated with documentation," he alleged.

Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar voiced his unwavering support for Rahul Gandhi in his quest to protect the Constitution and the rights of voters.

While addressing the protest titled 'Our Vote Our Right', Shivakumar remarked, "This represents a historic struggle. Rahul Gandhi has conveyed a powerful message regarding the safeguarding of the Constitution and voters' rights. Karnataka is setting the stage for exposing election fraud across the nation."

"Rahul Gandhi, during a recent event focused on the Constitution, advocated for the establishment of legal support systems at every polling booth to safeguard voters' rights. We are dedicated to realizing this vision," he added.
