Bengaluru, Aug 7 (NationPress) In response to the claims made by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, regarding alleged electoral misconduct, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that the Congress MP has revealed — with undeniable evidence — the extensive vote theft that occurred throughout India during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
During his press briefing, CM Siddaramaiah asserted: "Despite significant public discontent, Narendra Modi regained power solely through electoral fraud. The documents unveiled by Rahul Gandhi today serve as irrefutable evidence."
He further stated: "Narendra Modi ascended to the role of Prime Minister by misusing the Election Commission, pilfering votes, and abusing authority. He has no ethical grounds to remain in office. He must resign and dissolve the government immediately."
The Congress Party intends to amplify its voice nationwide, unveiling the alleged crimes of the BJP to the public, he noted.
Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, a thorough six-month investigation was carried out into the voter records of the Mahadevapura Assembly segment, part of the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency. The inquiry revealed concrete evidence of systematic vote theft, according to the CM.
In the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha Election, the BJP reportedly misused the Election Commission and illegitimately acquired 100,250 votes in Mahadevapura — a constituency with approximately 325,000 voters — to secure victory, he alleged.
Five distinct methods of electoral malpractice were identified in Mahadevapura alone.
The first involved fake voters.
It is estimated that 11,965 fake voters participated in the voting process in this constituency. Some individuals cast votes at multiple polling booths, while others voted both here and in different parts of the state, even outside Karnataka. This indicates a systematic and intentional misuse of the electoral process, CM Siddaramaiah stated.
The second pertains to voters with fake addresses.
A total of 40,009 voters with fabricated addresses have been identified in this constituency.
Numerous individuals are registered at non-existent addresses, including many listed with "House Number 0", nonsensical entries for fathers or husbands' names, and addresses that simply do not exist. These fraudulent entries facilitated extensive vote theft, according to the CM.
The third issue involves voters registered under the same address. A total of 10,452 voters have been found registered under a small number of addresses. In one instance, 80 voter ID cards were issued using the address of a single-bedroom residence. In another case, 68 voter IDs listed a private club's address. Upon verification, it was confirmed that none of the listed voters actually live there. This signifies deliberate address manipulation for vote theft, he noted.
The fourth method of fraud involved unidentifiable voter photographs. In total, 4,132 voter ID cards in this constituency either lack photos or feature images so small and unclear that the individuals cannot be recognized. Nevertheless, these unidentifiable voters were still able to cast their votes — a blatant violation of electoral norms, the CM affirmed.
The fifth method involves senior citizens registered as first-time voters via Form 6. In this constituency, 33,692 voters aged between 60 and 90 years were found to have been registered as first-time voters through Form 6. The BJP often claims that new voters support Narendra Modi, yet the reality is shocking — even individuals aged 89 and 98 have allegedly voted for the first time. This reveals the depth and scale of the electoral fraud, CM Siddaramaiah said.
If the Election Commission had acted impartially and provided the electronic data and CCTV footage that Rahul Gandhi requested, this scam could have been uncovered shortly after the election. Instead, the Commission allegedly modified its own regulations to suppress information and conceal the truth. This is not merely a local scam in Mahadevapura — it is increasingly evident that the BJP has employed similar vote theft tactics nationwide to maintain power, CM Siddaramaiah concluded.
