New Delhi, Nov 24 (NationPress) Congress MP Rahul Gandhi extended his congratulations to the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for their remarkable victory in the World Cup, stating that their determination and discipline had instilled a sense of pride in the nation.

The team’s energetic display and decisive win have ignited celebrations throughout the sports community and beyond.

In a message posted on X, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha expressed: “Kudos to the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for bringing the World Cup home and instilling national pride. Your determination, discipline, and bravery exemplify the spirit of India. The nation salutes you. Jai Hind.”

His post featured the Tricolour emoji, highlighting the patriotic enthusiasm surrounding the team’s success.

India showcased a dominant performance to secure the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in Dhaka, overcoming Chinese Taipei with a score of 35–28 in the final. This victory marked India’s second consecutive title, reinforcing their supremacy in the sport.

Head coach of Haryana Steelers, Manpreet Singh, praised the team, stating, “The women’s team has presented a performance that the entire nation can take pride in. Their belief and teamwork were exceptional. As a former Indian player, I know the level of effort required to achieve this. Huge congratulations to the players and support staff.”

India maintained impressive form throughout the tournament, dominating their group with four victories in four matches, progressing to the semifinals where they defeated Iran 33–21 to secure their place in the final.

Chinese Taipei also had an unbeaten run in the group stage, defeating hosts Bangladesh 25–18 in their semifinal match.

Head coach of Puneri Paltan, Ajay Thakur, remarked: “This is a very proud moment for India as the women’s team has successfully defended the World Cup trophy in Dhaka. Their commanding journey to the final and subsequent title victory illustrates the significant progress women’s kabaddi has made in recent years. It also showcases the sport's increasing global appeal, with Bangladesh hosting the World Cup. I hope this momentum continues in the future.”

A total of 11 countries participated in the tournament, signifying the rapid growth of women’s kabaddi on a global scale. India led Group A with eight points from four wins, while Bangladesh secured second place with six points from three wins. Thailand, Urangda, and Germany were also part of the group.

Chinese Taipei topped Group B with 10 points from five victories, while Iran came in second with eight points from four wins. Nepal, Poland, Kenya, and Zanzibar completed the group.

The top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, where India triumphed over Iran and Chinese Taipei overcame Bangladesh to set the stage for the final.
