A cautionary advisory for dense fog and cold wave conditions has been announced starting January 25. Jaipur experienced its first winter rainfall of the season early Friday morning. Intermittent drizzle began at around 5 a.m., escalating into heavy rainfall by 6:30 a.m., accompanied by vigorous winds and thunder.
This rainfall resulted in a temperature drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius, reinstating a notable winter chill.
Heavy rain also caused traffic disruptions in various parts of the city, including Tonk Road, Malviya Nagar, Jagatpura, JLN Marg, and adjacent areas. The power supply was briefly impacted in some neighborhoods. Reports of hailstorms came from several regions in Sikar district, including Kotri, Simarla, and Sargoth, where hailstones resembling chickpeas fell for approximately 10-15 minutes.
Similar weather was observed in districts like Tonk, Nagaur, Alwar, and Jaipur, where intermittent rain and strong winds intensified the cold.
In the past 24 hours, the lowest temperature recorded was in Jaisalmer at 6.2 degrees Celsius, while the highest was noted in Jawai Bandh (Pali) at 29.4 degrees Celsius.
Earlier on Thursday, light rain was documented in border districts, such as Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Barmer, Ganganagar, and Jodhpur, while dense fog was prevalent in northeastern districts like Ganganagar and Hanumangarh.
The IMD has cautioned that following the current rainy spell, dense fog is expected to affect multiple districts, including Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Nagaur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Hanumangarh. Residents are urged to exercise caution, particularly during early morning and late-night hours.
