Jaipur, April 30 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Police have successfully dismantled a counterfeit currency operation that was being conducted from a rented space in Jodhpur, as reported by an official.
The official stated that the gang was involved in printing forged Rs 500 notes and was set to circulate fake currency amounting to Rs 10 lakh in exchange for only Rs 2 lakh.
The suspects have been apprehended.
DCP Alok Srivastava remarked that the police had been monitoring the gang's activities for an extended period.
“Following reliable intelligence, a raid was executed on Tuesday night at Mandore Krishi Upaj Mandi. Two individuals from Nagaur, identified as Shravan Vyas (28) of Panchaudi and Babulal Prajapat (40) of Bhavnda, were arrested with counterfeit currency valued at Rs 7.5 lakh,” he explained.
The suspects had established their operation above a shop in the local market, where they had set up various equipment, including a color printer, scanner, paper cutter, and computer system for the production of the fake notes.
“We have also confiscated bundles of ready-to-use counterfeit Rs 500 notes along with the necessary packaging materials,” he added.
Further investigation revealed that the duo was targeting large-scale buyers, likely businessmen, by offering counterfeit notes worth Rs 10 lakh in exchange for genuine currency valued at Rs 2 lakh.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed the existence of another rented location in the Balsamand Magji valley area.
“We transported them to this second site for a deeper investigation, and efforts are ongoing to unveil the broader network involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit currency,” he stated.
The authorities are concentrating on identifying and apprehending individuals who purchased the counterfeit notes and circulated them within the market.
