Jaipur, Feb 5 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on Thursday that the state government is dedicated to establishing Rajasthan’s stone industry as the foremost player in India. He highlighted the sector's rich heritage, international acclaim, and significant growth prospects.

While speaking at the opening session of India StoneMart at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC), Sharma remarked, “Rajasthan’s stones possess a unique and globally acknowledged identity. They have made a lasting impression from esteemed institutions to historic forts and palaces throughout the nation.” He emphasized that with government backing, the industry is now ready to reach new milestones.

Encouraging entrepreneurs to unite, Sharma stated that India StoneMart embodies the vision of a “new Rajasthan” and serves as a global platform highlighting the strengths and potential of India’s natural stone sector. He extended his congratulations to C-DOS, RIICO, and Laghu Udyog Bharti for organizing the event.

Sharma outlined significant exhibition features, including the introduction of a website in over 26 international languages, a dedicated mobile app, and an expanded exhibition space, all aimed at boosting global engagement.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is rapidly positioning itself as a global manufacturing hub. Initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat have instilled renewed confidence in various industries. “Indian granite, marble, and sandstone have a worldwide reputation. Beyond being a key exporter, India is evolving into a center for value addition and innovation,” he noted, describing this as a “golden opportunity” for the stone industry.

The Chief Minister assured that the Rajasthan government has established a stable and investment-friendly climate for industries, particularly in the stone sector. Policies such as a single-window clearance system, enhanced industrial infrastructure, improved logistics, and simplified procedures have facilitated business establishment for entrepreneurs.

He also mentioned that of the Rs 35 lakh crore worth of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit, work has already commenced on projects totaling Rs 8 lakh crore.

Highlighting Rajasthan’s rich mineral resources, Sharma stated that the state is home to 85 mineral varieties. The marble from Makrana and Kishangarh, along with stones from Rajsamand, Jalore, Udaipur, Dungarpur, and Banswara, are globally recognized. He emphasized that Rajasthan’s long-standing tradition of craftsmanship and its famous artisans are the backbone of the industry.

“The true strength of this sector lies in its skilled artisans and diligent workers,” the Chief Minister stated, assuring that the government is committed to ensuring worker safety, dignity, skill enhancement, modern tools, better working conditions, and fair wages.

In criticizing the previous administration, Sharma noted that the lack of a clear industrial policy had resulted in industrial migration and a decline in job opportunities. “Our government is pursuing transparency and integrity, with a firm commitment to making Rajasthan a $350 billion economy by 2030,” he remarked.

Industry and Commerce Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore affirmed that the state government, under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, is fully dedicated to advancing the stone industry. He stated that investment-friendly policies, single-window clearances, and procedural ease are providing considerable relief to entrepreneurs, which will help elevate Rajasthan’s stone sector on the global stage.

During the event, the Chief Minister awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards to Anil Chaudhary, Director of Shriram Mega Structure, and Mukesh Chandra Agarwal, Managing Director of Ever Shine Marbles, for their exceptional contributions to the stone industry.

Earlier, Sharma inaugurated India StoneMart 2026 by cutting the ribbon and exploring various exhibition stalls. Present at the event were Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, All India Organising Secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharti Prakash Chand, Chairman of R.K. Marbles Ashok Patni, representatives from Iran and Turkey, along with senior officials from Laghu Udyog Bharti, RIICO, and SIDOS.

Point of View

Rajasthan's ambition to dominate the stone industry reflects a broader trend of regional governments striving for economic growth through localized industries. This strategic focus not only promises job creation but also aims to enhance India's global economic footprint. The emphasis on skilled labor and sustainable practices is crucial for long-term success.
