Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 2 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Friday that the objective of education extends beyond mere professional success; it is also about cultivating character, morality, and a humane personality.
“This embodies the essential spirit of Indian educational philosophy, which promotes harmony and peace within society,” remarked the Union Minister during a ceremony hosted by Vidya Pracharini Sabha and BN Institute in celebration of their 104th Foundation Day in Udaipur.
He emphasized that knowledge devoid of values is inadequate, adding that India is currently rising as a knowledge economy.
“India’s position in the Global Innovation Index has seen a remarkable rise, moving from 76 in 2014 to 39 in 2024,” he stated, noting, “Our universities are not just creating skilled professionals; they are gaining international acclaim and recognition.”
The Defence Minister asserted that teachers are the cornerstone of an effective educational framework, which is why the National Education Policy prioritizes empowering them to be capable, confident, and independent, as empowered educators are vital for a robust India.
He mentioned that the Indian knowledge tradition has been distinct since ancient times, showcasing a harmonious balance between faith and science, the material and the spiritual, action and duty, enjoyment and renunciation.
“This equilibrium renders Indian thought not only intellectually profound but also immensely applicable to everyday life,” he stated.
The Defence Minister declared that India is making swift progress and is set to become one of the top three global economies by 2030.
He highlighted the significant strides made towards self-reliance in the defense industry and weapon manufacturing.
“In the past, India’s voice was often disregarded on the global stage, but today, when India speaks, the world pays attention,” he remarked.
Reflecting personally, Rajnath Singh shared that his entry into politics was serendipitous, akin to the phrase ‘Har Har Gange’, indicating an unexpected life change.
He noted that even in politics, the educator within him remains active.
He stressed the significance of the New Education Policy, which positions teachers at the heart of nation-building.
Values such as humility, respect, and self-discipline are crucial for both individual and national development. “Only those who bow in humility can truly rise,” he expressed.
Rajnath Singh also addressed the traditions of unity and equality within the Armed Forces, highlighting community meals and the necessity of dismantling hierarchical barriers to foster trust and camaraderie.
During the event, MLA Vishvraj Singh Mewar discussed the historical contributions of the Mewar royal family to education, particularly in girls’ education.
Without naming individuals, he called for stringent action against those who exploit the legacies of great historical figures for political gain.
Following the program, the Defence Minister visited the City Palace, where he was received by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, a member of the former royal family.
