Los Angeles, Oct 11 (NationPress) The Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek appears to be experiencing the flip side of fame. Despite reveling in his success, he frequently attracts attention when fans mistakenly identify him as the Grammy-winning musician, Bruno Mars.
This incident has left some of the ‘Uptown Funk’ singer's supporters feeling disheartened, as reported by ‘People’ magazine.
During a live episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the Mr. Robot series, podcast host Josh Horowitz inquired whether Malek had ever been confused for another celebrity.
“I often get mistaken for Oscar Isaac and Bruno Mars,” Malek, 44, responded during the event held at New York Comic Con on Thursday, October 9. His podcast companion and Mr. Robot co-star Christian Slater expressed disbelief, prompting Malek to recount, “Yes, it really happens. When we met, Mars remarked, ‘Oh, my doppelganger’. It’s a real thing.”
According to ‘People’, the star of Bohemian Rhapsody then recounted a humorous incident where he unintentionally made a young girl cry due to his mistaken identity.
“I was attending a Dodgers baseball game when a sweet young girl approached me asking for my autograph. I agreed, and she presented me with a photo of Bruno Mars. I had to explain, ‘I’m sorry, but I’m not him’,” he reminisced. “She paused for a moment before bursting into tears. I took her picture and signed it as Bruno.”
Slater, 56, also shared a tale of being mistaken for another actor. “Just yesterday, while waiting for my daughter’s school bus, someone called out, ‘Oh, hey, Kevin!’ I often get confused for Kevin Bacon,” he shared, eliciting laughter from the audience.
