Mumbai, June 11 (NationPress) Director Karan Anshuman, who is eagerly anticipating the release of the second season of the streaming series ‘Rana Naidu’, shared a fascinating story from the filming process when Rana Daggubati unexpectedly improvised his dialogue, leading to a surprising twist.
In the series, Rana Daggubati takes on the lead role and finds himself in a tense confrontation with his uncle, Venkatesh Daggubati, who portrays his estranged father.
During this heated exchange, the two actors began speaking in Telugu. Karan, with limited knowledge of the language, sat in the director's chair, believing that “magic is about to unfold” as both actors delivered their lines in their mother tongue, which typically enhances the dialogue's authenticity. However, he was taken aback when he suddenly heard the word “biryani”.
In a conversation with IANS, Karan shared, “While there isn't much Telugu in the dialogue, we have some captivating moments that incorporate it. During a scene featuring Naga and Rana, their voices grew louder with each line. I always encourage my actors to improvise freely when they feel there's more to express. Occasionally, they'll switch to Telugu.”
The director noted that these spontaneous Telugu lines often pertain to the mood rather than the storyline. “I always encourage them to go with the flow and continue in Telugu. So, during this intense scene, as the tension built, they suddenly switched to Telugu. I thought, 'Here comes the magic.' But then I heard ‘biryani’. I had to cut the scene and asked, ‘Did you have lunch?’” he said, laughing.
The second season of ‘Rana Naidu’ is set to premiere on Netflix on June 13.
