Mumbai, March 24 (NationPress) Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Raut, on Monday vehemently condemned the vandalism that occurred at the Mumbai hotel where comedian Kunal Kamra was filming his stand-up comedy show, asserting that the incidents of vandalism on Sunday are indicative of a frail Home Minister in Maharashtra.
Sanjay Raut called for accountability for those responsible for the vandalistic acts.
He urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also oversees the home department, to relinquish his responsibilities in this sector.
“Is Fadnavis incapable of managing the Home Ministry, or is he being obstructed from executing his duties? Fadnavis claims he will not overlook the rioters in Nagpur, but significant damage also occurred due to rioters in Khar last night. Will he ignore them? Will he take steps to restore the damage inflicted by the rioters or not?” he questioned.
He further emphasized that the Mumbai Police Commissioner should be relieved of his duties without delay.
“Maharashtra has descended into a ‘goonda raj’. There are individuals plotting to transform all of Maharashtra into Beed,” he remarked.
Beed has been making headlines for the horrific murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh and the failures in maintaining law and order.
“What is transpiring in Parbhani? What unfolded in Nagpur? Now, right before your eyes, a podcaster's studio has been wrecked in the state capital. What were the police doing?” he inquired.
Sanjay Raut expressed his curiosity about whether censorship and an Emergency had been enacted in Maharashtra.
“If an Emergency has indeed been imposed, declare it openly, affirming that we have instituted an Emergency. Artists, writers, and literary figures, including comedians, will not be permitted to critique, compose, or engage in satire. The government should make this clear,” he stated.
“Furthermore, action must be taken against the Assistant Commissioner of Police and senior police officials of the station where this vandalism transpired. Maharashtra is being disparaged across the nation regarding its law and order situation.
“Additionally, punitive measures should be taken against those issuing threats. Politicians should be able to endure sarcastic criticism. If Fadnavis wishes to uphold his reputation, he must take action against the rioters,” Sanjay Raut concluded.
