The acclaimed star has ventured into writing with a new thriller titled "Gone Before Goodbye", co-authored with Harlan Coben. The story revolves around an army surgeon who unexpectedly becomes entangled in the "crazy world of private wealth and private surgery".

During her appearance at the Shine Away summit in Los Angeles, Witherspoon shared, "I often think about characters like Jason Bourne or James Bond, where women typically leverage their sexuality to succeed. What if we created a thriller where the female protagonist's extraordinary talent is her unique skill rather than her looks?

"She is a reconstructive surgeon with extensive military experience, having worked with Doctors Without Borders. She finds herself navigating a wild realm of private surgery and wealth."

Witherspoon expressed that her parents were a significant source of inspiration, according to reports from femalefirst.co.uk.

She reminisced, "The first five years of my life were spent on a military base in Germany, surrounded by doctors who frequented our home and spoke in medical jargon. I was just a young child at the dinner table, absorbing conversations about intricate surgeries from my dad and his colleagues, as well as my mom and her friends.

"For years, I aspired to be a surgeon... After witnessing my mom's nursing career, I questioned why I was the one in the spotlight when she was the one saving lives. I hope this story encourages readers to honor those in the medical field. This novel is truly a tribute to my mom and dad.

Witherspoon collaborated with Coben, who played a pivotal role in turning her ideas into reality.
