Can Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy Unite Telugu Parties to Support Sudershan Reddy?

Hyderabad, Aug 19 (NationPress) - On Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a heartfelt plea to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, urging them to rally behind the INDIA Alliance candidate, B. Sudershan Reddy, for the Vice-Presidential election.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), N.T. Rama Rao (NTR), he called upon TDP President Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Deputy CM and Jana Sena President Pawan Kalyan, as well as BRS leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), to lend their support to Sudershan Reddy.

During a press conference, the Chief Minister invited not only the TDP, but also the BRS, Jana Sena, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and Left parties to back the candidacy of the esteemed former Supreme Court judge.

He emphasized that since Sudershan Reddy is a proud Telugu, a constitutional authority, and not tied to any political affiliation, all parties from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should unite in support of his candidacy.

Describing Sudershan Reddy’s nomination as a significant boost to the pride and esteem of the Telugu people, he urged all Telugu parties to show solidarity.

Revanth Reddy labeled Sudershan Reddy’s candidacy as an honor for the Telugu community, urging all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from both states to unite in endorsing a Telugu candidate.

“It is a moment of pride for all Telugus that ‘Telangana Bidda’ Sudershan Reddy, who comes from an agricultural background, has been nominated as a Vice-Presidential candidate,” he remarked.

Revanth Reddy pointed out that this nomination offers a rare opportunity to elect a Telugu individual to a prestigious constitutional position. He noted that after former PM P. V. Narasimha Rao, Sudershan Reddy stands as the second Telugu to be considered for such a high office.

He recalled how NTR had previously supported PM-designate Narasimha Rao in the Nandyal Lok Sabha elections by refraining from fielding a TDP candidate in 1991, showcasing his political acumen. The Chief Minister expressed hope that contemporary Telugu leaders would emulate NTR’s example and support Sudershan Reddy to uphold democratic values in the nation.

He underscored the collective responsibility of the Telugu populace to unite and strive for the success of the legal expert Sudershan Reddy, who also chaired the Independent Expert Committee established by the Telangana government for caste census analysis.

CM Revanth Reddy articulated that the election for the Vice Presidency represents a clash between the NDA alliance, which he accused of undermining democracy through 'vote theft,' and the INDIA bloc, which is committed to preserving the Constitution in alignment with Mahatma Gandhi’s principles.

He urged advocates for OBC reservations to support Sudershan Reddy, highlighting his commitment to increasing OBC representation in education, employment, and local governance.

Revanth Reddy mentioned that two legislative bills aimed at enhancing OBC reservations to 42 percent are currently awaiting the President’s approval, asserting that electing Sudershan Reddy could facilitate this process.

He claimed that NDA candidate C. P. Radhakrishnan represents forces opposed to OBC reservations.

He further alleged that the NDA was undermining democracy and the Constitution. “One side features groups intent on altering the Constitution, abolishing reservations, and exploiting the Election Commission to perpetrate voter fraud, while the other advocates for the preservation of the Constitution,” he stated.
