This morning, the direct flight service was launched with a 72-seater aircraft, offering significant relief to the residents of the Vindhya region, which includes cities like Rewa, Khajuraho, Panna, and Mukundpur.
Local citizens expressed their enthusiasm about the new air service, highlighting how it will drastically reduce travel time—from the previous 15-hour road journey to under 2 hours by air.
One passenger, Venkatesh Pandey, overflowing with happiness, shared with IANS that he was fortunate enough to be on the inaugural flight from Rewa to Delhi, despite facing challenges in securing a ticket.
“Today is a momentous occasion for Rewa's residents. This day will go down in history as a golden opportunity. Previously, rail travel took significantly longer. Now, individuals can return from Delhi to Rewa within a single day. The flight has been fully booked since its inception,” he stated.
Pilot Raghav Mishra, who flew the inaugural flight, expressed pride in this milestone for Rewa, noting it as a significant achievement for the community.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla commented that establishing air connectivity for Rewa is a vital step towards regional development, paving the way for new opportunities in the Vindhya area.
The Rewa airstrip has seen enhancements, with 258 acres of newly acquired land added to the existing 65-acre facility. Airport officials confirmed that a comprehensive terminal is under construction, which will attract major airlines to operate flights to Delhi, Indore, Bhopal, and beyond.
