Bareilly, Oct 6 (NationPress) A reward of ₹15,000 each has been declared for seven individuals wanted in connection with the Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) tied to the recent violence in Bareilly.
The disturbances began on September 26 due to rising tensions over the contentious 'I Love Muhammad' slogan, resulting in unrest across the city.
As per police reports, the procedure for announcing rewards and issuing non-bailable warrants against the absconding suspects has commenced. Authorities have also issued a warning that if arrests are not executed promptly, property confiscation actions will be initiated against the implicated.
Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya mentioned that rewards have been posted for IMC youth district president Sajid Saklani, youth president Altamas Raza, Afzal Beg, Nayyab alias Nima, Bablu Khan, Nadeem, and Adnan Saklani.
Police units are actively conducting ongoing raids to apprehend them.
To date, 83 suspects, including IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza, have been captured and incarcerated. The police have filed ten cases related to the riots, with several suspects still at large.
Teams from the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) and the Municipal Corporation have collaborated to enforce stringent actions against the suspects.
On October 4, bulldozer actions were taken at two sites, during which the BDA demolished a wedding hall owned by IMC spokesperson Nafees.
This action targeted illegal properties associated with Maulana Tauqeer Raza and his close associates.
The demolition efforts continued the following day, with officials stating that the actions were aimed at eliminating “permanent encroachments”.
Police sources confirmed that search operations are actively ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the September 26 violence.
The crackdown, officials indicated, will persist until all responsible parties face justice.
Further updates are anticipated.
