Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sudhakar Singh on Wednesday, 29 July launched a sharp attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey, accusing him of using Parliament as a platform to malign freedom fighters rather than address substantive legislative issues. The remarks came in the wake of a heated controversy in the Lok Sabha triggered by Dubey's references to India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

The controversy erupted during a debate on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, when Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made remarks directed at newly appointed Education Minister Pralhad Joshi. Those comments were subsequently expunged from the House records, triggering protests from Treasury Bench members and demands for a formal apology from the Congress leader.

Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Kiren Rijiju accused Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of indulging in personal attacks and 'character assassination.' The episode set off a broader round of cross-party recriminations that spilled into the following day.

Sudhakar Singh's Attack on Nishikant Dubey

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, RJD MP Sudhakar Singh pulled no punches in his assessment of Dubey. 'He is not Nishikant Dubey; he is 'Neechkant' Dubey. His only job is to weaken Indian democracy. He does not speak on serious issues in Parliament. Instead, he abuses and maligns the great leaders who fought for India's freedom. He does nothing beyond that. He is a person associated with criminals. In the coming days, we will present many facts and pieces of evidence against him,' Singh said.

Owing to the student movement and the police firing on students in Bihar, as well as the encounter of Bharat Tiwari, the government's image has been severely damaged.
