Jaipur, April 2 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari, declared that the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 5,000 crore for 21 new national highway projects within the state.
As part of this initiative, the Public Works Department (PWD) will execute significant road construction projects, which include the 4-lane expansion of the Nagaur-Netra Road and Raipur-Jassakheda Road, along with the construction of Gangapur City Bypass and Karauli Bypass. The plan also includes upgrades to 13 accident-prone black spots.
Diya Kumari expressed her appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, emphasizing the government’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure within the state.
She pointed out that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the state government is reaching new heights in infrastructure development.
In the previous year, an unprecedented Rs 12,620 crore was allocated for roads, bridges, and ROBs/RUBs, marking the highest expenditure recorded in the state’s plan.
“The double-engine government of the state, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, is establishing new development standards. Last year, Rs 12,620 crore was invested in constructing roads, bridges/ROBs/RUBs in the state plan, which is the highest to date. This year, a historic increase has led to a budget allocation of Rs 17,384 crore for road development,” she noted.
This year’s budget for road development has been raised to Rs 17,384 crore, facilitating extensive work on rural roads, major district roads (MDR), and state highways.
Furthermore, Rs 1,300 crore was utilized from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) last year for various road construction initiatives throughout Rajasthan.
Additional Chief Secretary Praveen Gupta attributed this success to the diligent efforts and effective oversight by Deputy CM Diya Kumari, ensuring optimal utilization of funds, including those accrued from previous years.
This remarkable investment in road infrastructure is anticipated to significantly improve connectivity, safety, and economic progress in Rajasthan, according to officials.
