Bengaluru, March 21 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has raised alarms regarding forces undermining national unity by exacerbating the North-South divide. This critical topic was deliberated during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) convened in Bengaluru on Friday.

Mukunda C.R., Joint General Secretary of the RSS, addressed the issue, stating, “One of our major concerns is the forces attempting to challenge national unity by emphasizing the North-South divide. Whether it pertains to delimitation or language-related matters, our volunteers from various organizations are committed to fostering harmony in the southern states.”

He further noted that this topic was a significant element in the national analysis presented by General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.

Elaborating on the subject, Mukunda indicated, “There are numerous facets to the North-South divide, and we believe that many of them are politically driven. In terms of delimitation, the Union Home Minister has already clarified in Parliament that it will be executed based on a proportional ratio. If a southern state currently possesses a specific number of Lok Sabha seats within the total 544, that ratio will be preserved even after any expansion. The ultimate decision lies with the Central government, and it is not for the RSS to dictate the number of seats. According to media reports, the Home Minister has assured that the existing ratio will remain unchanged.”

Mukunda also touched upon concerns outside delimitation, stating, “As I mentioned, some of these issues are politically motivated. Whether it involves the rupee symbol, the utilization of local languages, or language policies in general, such issues should be resolved not solely by political leaders but by uniting social leaders and groups. It is detrimental for the nation to be divided over these matters.”

He emphasized, “Everyone is entitled to justice, and the RSS supports this. However, resolutions should be achieved harmoniously.”

Discussing language further, Mukunda remarked, “The mother tongue should not be confined to education; the RSS advocates that daily activities should also occur in one's native language. The RSS has not endorsed a resolution regarding the two-language or three-language system, but we have embraced a resolution promoting the use of the mother tongue.

“Every individual should acquire knowledge of multiple languages — their mother tongue, a regional or commonly spoken language, and a career-oriented language such as English. For example, if I reside in Tamil Nadu, I should learn Tamil; in Delhi, one should learn Hindi. Additionally, proficiency in English may be necessary for career advancement.”

“The RSS consistently underscores this principle. Whenever feasible, individuals should utilize their mother tongue. We encourage volunteers from Hindi-speaking regions to learn a South Indian or Northeast Indian language, as it nurtures harmony,” he added.

Regarding a resolution on the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, Mukunda stated that the resolution would be shared with the media once it is finalized.

He clarified that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is not a subject of discussion at the ABPS. “People residing here should have an identity; that is our stance,” he declared.
