New York, March 18 (NationPress) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is adhering to President Donald Trump’s vision, as noted by State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce when queried about Trump’s remarks regarding the challenges faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.
During her briefing in Washington on Monday, she stated, “Secretary Rubio, of course, follows through with his (Trump's) vision and the nature of the choices that are made in that regard.”
Meanwhile, at the United Nations in New York, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq was inquired whether Guterres had discussed human rights violations against Hindus in Bangladesh during his recent visit to the country.
Haq responded, “In his overall discussions with officials, he ensured to address any concerns we have regarding human rights.”
Just prior to the November elections, Trump had posted on X, “I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities being attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh, which remains in a total state of chaos.”
In reference to this, Bruce was questioned about Rubio’s evaluation of the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh and what actions he is taking to address Trump’s concerns.
While affirming that Rubio follows through on Trump’s vision, she declined to provide further details, stating, “When it comes to negotiations, diplomatic considerations, and the conversations involved, I don’t want to presume what the outcome will be.”
She further added, “What I am not going to answer is diplomatic considerations between governments or the approaches regarding what’s happening in a particular country that falls under diplomatic conversation.”
Earlier in New Delhi, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard remarked that the persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh “continues to remain a central focus area of concern” for that nation.
In an interview with NDTV, she stated, “The long-time unfortunate persecution, killing, and abuse of religious minorities—Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Catholics, and others—have been a significant area of concern for the United States government and, of course, President Trump and his administration.”
