Srinagar, Dec 18 (NationPress) The chief of Peoples Conference (PC) and J&K MLA, Sajad Gani Lone, stated on Thursday that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah secured the 2024 Assembly elections by labeling his rivals as ‘BJP agents,’ yet has behaved like the ‘A team’ of the party since taking office as CM.
Sajad Lone expressed his disbelief on X, stating, “Isn’t it the same CM who won the election by branding everyone as a BJP agent? Those derogatory terms he used. Taking a knee could have been done in a less humiliating way. This serves as a lesson for all the Kashmiris who were deceived into thinking that the NC would oppose the BJP. It was a preordained outcome all along.”
He further remarked, “Isn’t it the same CM who criticizes the LG daily? Hasn’t the same PM appointed the LG? Not a word about that. A predetermined match. All the theatrics are for Kashmir. Officially pleading to join. Officially the A team of BJP.”
Sajad specifically criticized Omar Abdullah for consistently denouncing Lt Governor Manoj Sinha while avoiding any criticism of the Prime Minister who appointed him.
CM Omar Abdullah and his cabinet have continually asserted that the true authority in Jammu and Kashmir lies with the Lt Governor.
The L-G has reiterated that, aside from law and order and the transfers of IAS/IPS officers, all other governance matters fall under the purview of the chief minister and his cabinet.
“I know my boundaries, and I will never overstep them,” stated the Lt Governor.
The latest conflict between Omar Abdullah and the Lok Bhawan in the union territory centered on the age relaxation for candidates taking the J&K Administrative Service (JKAS) exams.
The chief minister mentioned that the file for age relaxation for JKAS candidates had been sent to the L-G and was awaiting confirmation.
L-G Manoj Sinha noted on X that he received the file on December 2 and returned it the same day, questioning how the logistics for the JKAS exam could be managed in such a short time, especially with the J&K Public Service Commission conducting the competitive exam on December 7.
Omar Abdullah later contacted the chairman of the public service commission requesting a postponement of the exam to resolve the issue, but the chairman opted to proceed with the examination on December 7, citing the absence of official clarity on the age relaxation matter.
