Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 19 (NationPress) Head coach Kumar Sangakkara inspired the players with his motivational speech as the Rajasthan Royals kicked off their training for the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), set to begin on March 28.
Sangakkara highlighted his collaborative coaching style, encouraging players to voice their thoughts and suggestions. He noted that the preparation camp is an excellent chance for both the team management and players to bond and align towards a shared objective.
"Alright, everyone, we have a mix of experience here—some have been around for years, others just one year, and some are completely new. The first step is to start connecting and understanding one another; this is how we initiate our season. Secondly, ease into practice; we'll have one-on-one introductions tomorrow. Make sure to communicate with the coaches, share your needs, and we'll clarify our expectations from you," Sangakkara stated in a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on X.
"Collaboration is key; it’s a partnership. I appreciate a laid-back environment where people enjoy themselves, engage in conversations, and share smiles. However, during practice, remember our collective goal—we must all gain from our time together," he emphasized.
The former Sri Lankan player urged the team to utilize practice sessions wisely and expressed optimism for a fantastic season with several new players joining the ranks.
"Make the most of your time; practice doesn’t have to be excessively long or too brief; it needs to be just right to fulfill everyone’s expectations. It’s truly wonderful to see all of you," he added.
Looking ahead, the Rajasthan Royals are set to commence their campaign against the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on March 30 in Guwahati. Following that, they will face off against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The inaugural champions will host consecutive home matches in Guwahati against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 7 and 10, respectively.
