Chennai, July 11 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Sanjay Dutt expressed his admiration for cinema across India, emphasizing that there should be no barriers among film industries. During the Tamil teaser launch of his Kannada film, 'KD - The Devil', he stated, "We in Bollywood... we cherish Tamil cinema. We greatly admire Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay, and all your talented actors. We equally appreciate Kannada and Telugu stars, just as they appreciate us. These divisions should not exist. I envision a film uniting Prem sir, Rajinikanth, myself, Dhruva, Ramcharan, or Jr NTR, combining talents from all states. This could be truly remarkable. We love you all and hope to receive that same affection in return."
Sanjay Dutt's remarks were prompted by a question regarding the ease with which Kannada films are released in Tamil Nadu, while a Tamil film, 'Thug Life', faced issues in Karnataka. Dhruva Sarja, the lead actor, explained that a statement made by Kamal Haasan had offended many in Karnataka, which led to the film's troubles.
He commented, "Many Tamil films have screened in Karnataka long before I was born; no one prevented their releases. In this case, however, a comment by Kamal Haasan upset people. Let me be candid about this."
Dhruva further added, "Everyone cherishes their mother tongue. Likewise, we hold our language dear. When it comes to our native tongue, people will react. Except for that one film, all other Tamil films have been welcomed here. Our Kannada audience is supportive, but they will oppose anything that threatens their self-respect or language."
Actress Shilpa Shetty echoed similar sentiments after Dhruva's statements, saying, "I believe audiences do not focus on language. The only language they recognize is the language of cinema, and that’s what we prioritize."
'KD - The Devil', directed by Prem, stars Dhruva Sarja and Reeshma Nanaiah in lead roles. The film also features V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Nora Fatehi, and Yash Shetty. With music by Arjun Janya and cinematography by William David, the film is produced on a substantial budget of approximately ₹150 crore and is expected to release in October this year.
