Pune, Aug 11 (NationPress) The President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Harshwardhan Sapkal, criticized the BJP for its obsession with establishing a Congress-free India, asserting that it has ironically become filled with Congress members. During his speech at a workshop for newly appointed Congress officials, he stated, "Congress is the oldest and most experienced political party in the country, dedicated to its ideology."
He continued, "Our party boasts strong leadership and committed workers. In contrast, the BJP resembles a witch that consumes members from other parties. Observing the Chief Minister's circle or the cabinet reveals a significant number of Congress members. Despite their claims of having one crore members and a leader like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, their leadership is ultimately hollow and weak. This is why they resort to incorporating Congress workers, which is a tragedy in itself. In their quest for a Congress-free India, the BJP has inadvertently turned into a Congress-filled party."
Sapkal emphasized that the Congress party is not merely active during election seasons but operates as a continuous movement striving for self-governance.
Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating that Congress has never viewed power as the ultimate goal; rather, it has prioritized the interests of Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities.
"In contrast, the BJP governs solely for two industrialists. Power should serve the common man. It’s essential to connect with the populace, establishing your identity through actions and merit. Engage with every household, grasp their issues, and work with the vision of great leaders such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar," he added.
Wadettiwar condemned the BJP alliance for running a government that he described as a looter regime in Maharashtra, alleging that they wield significant power through the ED and CBI, and claiming that rampant corruption involves a 40 percent commission being pocketed.
Senior leader and Congress Working Committee member Balasaheb Thorat reflected on the party's resilience, stating that despite facing adversities and defeats, Congress has consistently bounced back to victory.
"The current state government’s operations are deplorable—physical assaults in the Assembly, legislators fighting in the canteen, and rampant corruption. We must address issues that resonate with the public, such as banking, farmers’ challenges, and the extensive corruption within NAFED. By focusing on these concerns, the people will rally behind us," he assured, emphasizing that Congress will strive to establish governments that respect its ideology and the Constitution.
