Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC on Tuesday, 4 August sharply criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his proposed march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi, calling his campaign against E20 petrol a exercise in political misinformation. She asserted that the government had acted with good intent and had done nothing wrong on the fuel policy.

What Shaina NC Said

Speaking to reporters, Shaina NC said, 'Arvind Kejriwal is merely spreading rumours. The government has not done anything wrong. There is nothing objectionable in pursuing policies with good intentions. Why, then, is he creating such false narratives and misinformation? Perhaps this reflects the extent of his political desperation.'

Her remarks came hours after Delhi Police stated that the proposed 4 August procession would not be permitted, citing security concerns around sensitive areas near the Prime Minister's residence.

Cross-Party Reactions

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tarun Chugh called Kejriwal's move 'unfortunate', adding, 'Making baseless and irrelevant statements without having any knowledge about the issue is inappropriate behaviour.'

Congress MP Imran Masood was sceptical of the march's prospects, saying, 'He has already announced it. But who is going to allow him to proceed? No one is going to let him go.' Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad took a measured position, describing the march as a routine part of any party's political agenda.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi backed Kejriwal, saying, 'People have been suffering due to E-20 for a long time, and they are raising their voices against it. The government has again ignored this issue. We have seen protests at Jantar Mantar earlier as well. Today, Arvind Kejriwal ji is leading it.'

Kejriwal's Position on E20

On Monday, Kejriwal announced he would lead a march to the Prime Minister's residence along with 100 supporters to personally submit petitions opposing ethanol-blended petrol. He alleged that the Centre had aggressively promoted E20 fuel after reportedly 'yielding' to pressure from US President Donald Trump to purchase ethanol from the United States — a claim the government has not publicly addressed.

Kejriwal has argued that E20 petrol could create difficulties for owners of older vehicles not designed to run on higher ethanol blends, and has demanded that consumers retain access to fuel compatible with their existing vehicles. According to AAP, an online petition against the fuel policy has gathered more than two lakh signatures.

Delhi Police Blocks the March

Delhi Police clarified that no permission had been granted for the procession and that security arrangements had been put in place to prevent any unauthorised march from reaching the designated area. The standoff marks the latest flashpoint between AAP and the Centre, with the E20 debate becoming a new front in the ongoing political battle between the two sides.

As AAP escalates its campaign and the BJP-led Centre holds firm on the E20 policy, the dispute is likely to intensify ahead of the next round of political mobilisation.
